The term ambry comes from the latin word “armarium” which means closet or chest.  It is often used to describe a recess or cupboard in a church.  Part of this unit encompasses the former large linen closet where various church items including table linens were once stored.  The remainder of the unit encompasses the former commercial kitchen where large volumes of food were prepared for various functions and celebrations that were held in the adjacent banquet hall.  Being located directly beneath the elevated alter platform, portions of the The Ambry have impressively tall ceilings at almost 12 feet!!… not your average lower level apartment!  The ceiling height makes this unit feel larger than its footprint.  It is finished in a studio loft style, with industrial touches including exposed ductwork, and a full wall closet organizer made from the wood of 3 church pews.  The bedroom wall is actually a retractable curtain, allowing for different interior arrangements.  The open concept living and dining area has great flow to the ample sized kitchen, equipped with stainless appliances including dishwasher.  The laundry room is located just down the hall making for very convenient access.  Deck space will be provided just outside the exterior door on the south side of the building with space for a BBQ and seating.
